Pilot projects
Enhancing migrants’ digital skills and social inclusion
Activities would aim at enhancing the migrants’ digital skills needed for their participation and inclusion in the society.
The Adult Education Centre Jesenice (Slovenia) aims to develop and implement a tailored capacity-building program to enhance the digital skills of migrant communities in the local environment while equipping them with practical knowledge about orientation in the local community and improving their Slovene language skills.
Developing a programme on enhancing migrants’ digital skills will enable the Adult Education Centre Jesenice to create a targeted and tailored programme responding to the participants’ needs. In fact, thanks to an initial skills assessment, migrants taking part in the capacity-building activity will be divided into two groups: beginners level and advanced level.
Activities (group activities – workshops, leisure time activities, and individual counselling) would aim at enhancing the migrants’ digital skills needed for their participation and inclusion in the society, while equipping them with practical knowledge on how to use digital services related to social security, health protection, educational system, administrative matters etc.
Additionally, throughout the program, the participants would improve their Slovene language skills, thus the programme would significantly contribute to their participation and inclusion in the society.
Furthermore, ex-ante and ex-post assessment of digital skills of participating migrants would provide insight and evidence of the needs of enhancing digital skills of migrants, as such assessments have not been conducted in Slovenia, especially not on a local level.
The activity will enhance the skills and capacities of local-level stakeholders to facilitate inclusion and social cohesion, as emphasized for example in the IOM’s Joint Global Initiative on Diversity, Inclusion and Social Cohesion (DISC Initiative).
At the end of the programme, all the participants will receive a final certificate and job search support, thus enhancing their opportunities for labour market inclusion.
