Empowerment actions for migrant system

Qualify and enhance the services aimed at TCNs regularly present in Tuscany.

The project

The TEAMS (Tuscany Empowerment Actions for Migrant System) project proposes an integrated system of actions to qualify and enhance the services aimed at Third Country Nationals regularly present in Tuscany and facilitate their access  with the aim of creating integration paths based on enhanced multiculturalism, equal opportunities, shared and inclusive dynamics of socio-economic development of the territory. 
One of the specific actions of this project focuses on school services and aims to activate social inclusion pathways that facilitate the academic success of young people from third countries or with a migratory background and the social participation of their families. 
Building and capitalizing on previous projects (Schools without Borders), the general objective of the Teams project is to promote social inclusion of minors and young foreigners, including second generation, by contrasting early school drop-out and performance gaps. This entails:  

  • to guarantee a homogeneous and qualitatively adequate school offer in the regional territory, in compliance with the right to equality of opportunities and the valorization of differences;  
  • to support the process of scholastic-social integration of foreign pupils, through integrated paths and actions between school and the local system represented by the offer of services;  
  • to improve the academic success of young people of foreign origin and reduce dropout;  
  • to facilitate different levels of relationship between the families of foreign students and between them and the educational institutions;  
  • to promote an integrated system between different subjects, such as schools, families, local communities, entities and private social organizations of the territory, in order to create a rich and articulated educational project, capable of fulfilling a role of cultural and social promotion and concrete growth opportunities.

The impact of the good practice

Together with the events to be organized and the activities directly designed with the beneficiaries and impacting the territories with the highest presence of foreign students, the project will also experiment the institutionalization of intercultural mediation activities in all services involved, including schools.
