In mid-March 2022, the Includ-EU team met in Jesenice, Slovenia, to film a video about the Includ-EU pilot programme aiming to enhance the digital skills and language skills of migrants. The programme is implemented by the Adult Education Center Jesenice.

The Adult Education Centre Jesenice developed a tailored capacity-building programme to enhance the digital skills of migrant communities in the local environment while equipping them with practical orientation in the local community whilst improving their Slovene language skills. The Head of the Adult Education Centre Jesenice, the intercultural mediator and a programme beneficiary were interviewed by the Includ-EU team.

Murisa, a beneficiary of the programme from Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasized the importance of enhancing digital and language skills: “All of us – the participants of the programme are here to learn as much as possible, so we can better provide for ourselves and our families.” Maja Radinovič Hajdič, the Head of the Adult Education Centre Jesenice, stressed the interlinkages of language and digital skills: “Language skills alone are not sufficient for strengthening the social inclusion of migrants, digital skills are needed too for successful inclusion of migrants in the local communities.” The Adult Education Center Jesenice provides intercultural mediation support in various institutional settings. Resnija Ređepi, a linguistic and intercultural mediator, added: “An intercultural mediator is a bridge between different cultures, helping migrants to find their path in new environment.”
