Knowing to integrate

Facilitate integration and labour inclusion by learning Italian.

The project

Knowing to integrate is a project financed with the 2014-2020 Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund to the Lombardy Region (leading actor) which aims to promote the linguistic integration of third country citizens. The project is realized thanks to a network of partners made up of 35 entities including: CPIA of Lombardy, Territorial Actors (internal sub-divisions of the Region), Anci Lombardia and others.

Knowing to integrate promotes the learning of Italian as a second language, with particular attention to A1 and A2 levels, allowing foreign citizens present in Lombardy to acquire an adequate level of knowledge of the Italian language in order to facilitate the integration and learning process of the language and facilitate labour inclusion; offering complementary services that facilitate access and attendance to courses, with particular attention to the needs of vulnerable groups, such as baby-sitting services, mediator services, etc.

The project is part of regional policies and interventions frameworks and includes:

  • activation of new Italians courses, realized by 19 CPIAs in Lombardy supported by the Regional School Office (USR);
  • complementary services which support and facilitate participation in the courses, particularly for vulnerable groups;
  • trainings of school and local employees.
